Weekend Rundown... I'M ALIVE!!!

Hello lovelies!!!  No, I didn't drown in the river... I am in fact alive!
We had a great Memorial Day Weekend & it's been go, go, go since we've been home!
Unpacking, cleaning house, trying to get life back in order & getting ready to pack again for next week.
Yes, we are going out of town again next week.  I'm not sure if it ever stops... but, then again I like it that way!

Until then, here's a little recap of our Memorial Day Weekend in New Braunfels & Gruene, TX!

On our drive down, Brutus the Boxer & Bingham the Chi-Wennie, in the back of the Tahoe... they were so funny!

The boys rode the motorcycles down & the girls rode in the Tahoe... PER-FECTO!
Saturday cruising & great friends... Doesn't get much better!

We made a few stops around town at some of our favorite places!

After riding the motorcycles around all day, Saturday night we went to see Roger Creager at the River Road Ice House... So much fun!

 Beast & Creager sandwich!

Saturday night was such a great time!  Great music & great friends... What more could you ask for!?
We ended up not going to float the river for various reasons but, still had a nice relaxing day on Sunday.  Grilled out, more friends & family time... it was what we all needed!

I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Also, don't forget that today is the last day to order any pink Help Whip Cancer products!  Help a great cause & you could win the host benefits!!!  Click here to order online!

Friday Favorites... River Floating Essentials!

Helloooo!  & HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
You are now granted to do the Happy Dance!
I'm not only so excited that it's Friday but, I also leave work at 1 today & we are headed South to New Braunfels for the weekend!  We'll be riding motorcycles through the Texas hill country, dancing & singing our hearts out to Texas Country music & floating the Guadalupe River!!!

Since we'll be floating the river, there are certain things that MUST be packed for this weekends trip!  I thought I would share with you some of my favorite must haves for a river trip!

A cute swim suit... I actually picked this one up last night & can't wait to sport it this weekend!  The bandeau top is important so there are no tan lines!
Xhilaration® Juniors Multicolored 2-Piece Push Up Bandeau Swimsuit.Opens in a new window.

A cute hat of some sort... taking this one with me!  Floppy hats are perfect when you want to kick back & take a little snooze.  & Yes, I've done it before... don't judge.
Mossimo Supply Co. Tan Shine Floppy Hat.Opens in a new window

Some inexpensive sunnies.  You never want to take your expensive sunnies with you down the river.  There's a good chance that at some point you're going to flip over or shoot down a rapid & I don't want my expensive pair of sunglasses going down that rapid without me!  If my cheapies go, I haven't lost too much!
Xhilaration® Oversized Plastic Sunglasses with Vented Lens - Black.Opens in a new window

Tanning lotion.  Y'all I used this just a few weeks ago while laying out with a girlfriend & I loved it!  It smells like Summer.  That's not the reason I love it but, it does turn your burn to a tan & gives you a nice little glow!
Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 - 8 oz.Opens in a new window

A Bubba Keg... or something like it.  Due to new laws in place this year for floating the river, we're having to get creative with how we take our drinks on the river.  This is an easy alternative.  Just mix your drink & go!

Last but certainly not least, the most important item for a successful river trip... Your tube!!!
If you rent your tube you know that your going to get the big black one that is hot, has no cup holders or a head rest.  Buy your own & you're guaranteed 2 cup holders & a head rest!  Can't beat that!!!

That concludes my favorite essentials for a kick ask river trip!

I hope y'all have a great Memorial Day Weekend, however you are spending it!
See y'all next week!

Gym Funnies & Menu Monday... Tuesday!

As you all know, I've been on a workout craze the last several weeks & following the Tone It Up 2012 Bikini Challenge.  You can see some of my other check-ins here, here, here & here.  I realize, I'm a hot mess & all over the board with this workout regime & eating properly but, I'll be the first to admit that it's all a work in progress!

Anyways, as you can tell from Friday's post we were out quite a bit last week.  Needless to say, I saw the gym less times last week than my liver was visited by alcohol.  Whoopsie!  We used to go out all the time like that but, not so much anymore.  Call us old... I know we are.  With all that said, I didn't have such a great workout week & didn't eat the best so, I was feeling like quite the oompa loompa by weeks end.
Onward & Upward this week though!
It's true!!!

Since I've been frequenting the gym more these last couple of months, I've seen some funny things happen.
Of course I've seen the normal stuff of people in funny workout clothes, etc., etc.  However, the funniest things have happened to me.  I figure if I can't laugh at myself, who else can!?  Right!?

The first "Shayna Funny Moment" happened the first & second time I did the Seahorse move from the Under The Sea workout... let's just say, I had a difficult time keeping my balance & almost face planted more than a few times!

The second "Shayna Funny Moment" happened just a couple of weeks ago when I was about to hop on the cardio machine.  I had just done my toning workout & was at the cardio machine stretching my calf muscles.  You know how you put your toe up on the wall or something that is elevated - that's what I was doing.  I'm stretching my right foot for a few seconds & the girl on the machine next to me looks over & says, "You gotta get on for it to work!"  Startled & at a loss for words I replied, "Oh yeah, I know.  Thanks though."  She then says, "Oh ok.  Just making sure because the first time I used these I stood there for about 10 minutes trying to figure it out!"  To which I reply, "Yeah, they can be a little tricky sometimes!"

Oh y'all, I was dying inside!  This poor girl really thought I didn't know how to use the machine!  In her defense, they are a little tricky & intimidating if you've never used one before - I've been there.  It was just too funny!

The third "Shayna Funny Moment" came just last week when I was doing the Starfish move from the She Sells Sea Shells Down by the Seashore workout.  I was on my third & final circuit & finished my left leg/right arm Starfish.  Then here comes the left arm/right leg set.  *Let me just say that my left arm is by far weaker than my right arm, always has been.  A lady had just set herself up right next to me & was truckin along.  The very first time I go up & back down... BAM my left hand slams down on the floor with an 8lb weight in it!
The lady looks at me & says, "Are you ok!?"  I busted out laughing & answered with a gigling, "Yes, I'm fine thanks.  Guess it's just been a long week".  She kindly reassured me that "it's ok, just shake it off".  I'm still laughing at myself for this one!  Please tell me you are too!

I hope these brightened your day a little & don't get too down on yourself if you have had a "Shayna" moment before!  You're not alone!

Oh, ONE more thing... Here's what's on the menu for dinner this week in our casa!
Monday - Turkey Burgers
Tuesday - Turkey Meatloaf Cupcakes
Wednesday - Chicken Parmesan - yes, again!
Thursday - Baked Tilapia
Friday - Whatever we can find on the road... we'll be traveling!

If you made it this far, congrats!  I know this was a pretty "wordy" post but, I can't quit laughing at myself so I figure I would share the wealth & let you have a chuckle at my expense too!

I'm off to do my workout!

Weekend Rundown... All on 2 Wheels!

Hey y'all & Happy Tuesday!!!

WOW!  What a busy & fun weekend we had!  How was your weekend?
From keeping up with other "weekend post" I think a lot of people had a chill weekend... I'm a little jealous!

Anyways, we spent pretty much all weekend on our motorcycle with other friends & their bikes!

After I worked for a few hours Saturday morning, Matt & I were off with our friends Hannah & Brady for some cruising around Ft. Worth.  We ended the night at a new restaurant The Woodshed & we all loved it!  The atmosphere was amazing, right on the Trinity River with a live band & washer pits.  We didn't eat dinner there but, I've heard the food is amazing so I can't wait to go back for a date night!
Yes, that would be a pig on a skewer

Matt had organized a poker run for us & our friends & that took place on Sunday!  We left our house at 12:30 & didn't get back until 10pm!!!  Although it was a long day, it was super fun!
We made 5 separate stops where we each drew cards & kept score on our cards that Matt made up!

Stop #2 Reno Red's - Green Acres is the place to be!

Stop #3 The Mule Barn - hadn't been there before but, awesome place!
Stop #4 The Spot @ Eagle Mtn. Lake

Pit stop in the Stockyards & (one) of our my WINNING cards!
I actually won 2nd place so I won my $5 back... That Matt lent to me.
With all this luck I should probably go buy a lotto ticket soon!

I'm pretty sure that I'm still recovering from the all the fun that was had!  I must catch up soon because we have another long weekend ahead of us!

What did you do this weekend?
I hope y'all had a great one... whether it was being busy as a bee or maxin' & chillaxin!

My Week in {Photos}

Hey y'all!  Happy Friday!!!
(I'm doing the happy dance!)
Is it just me or has this week sort of drug on by?  I dunno.  What I do know is that I'm thankful it is Friday & I'm looking forward to a great weekend with our friends!

We've been so busy this week & on the go that I don't have a very thought provoking post for you today.  So, I'm just going to let the pictures of the week do the talking... sort of.

1. My bracelet from Chelsea at After Sunset ... You'll have to wait & see it styled next week!
2. Skinny Marg at a birthday dinner Tuesday night
3. Purchased 2 lamps at Hob Lob for $37!!!  That's a bargain if you ask me!

4. Our friend Ross playing at Bar Louie Wednesday night!
5. Thursday night softball game... always so much fun!
6. Bingham catching some fresh air on the way to the softball game.

& Finally! These two songs I cannot get out of my head!
Eric Church - Springsteen  It's cranked up every time it comes on & it's a great Summer jam!
Lee Brice - A Woman Like You  Has to be the most sweetest love song!  A hopeless romantic right here that has been sucked in!

PLUS, both of these guys are pretty easy on the eyes... Just a little bonus!

That's all I've got for today!  I hope y'all have a fab weekend!
Also, be sure to stop by Mrs. Valerie's place on the WWW tomorrow... I'll be guest posting about my hometown!

Larry Joe Taylor 2012

Happy Tuesday y'all!
Soo... Remember a couple of weeks ago when Matt & I went to a big music festival?
Almost forgot about it?  Well, today I'm re-capping those shenanigans!

Let me tell you some background about Larry Joe Taylor first.
Basically, it's a big music festival where Texas Country music artist play all throughout the day.
It's from Tuesday - Saturday & everyone packs up to go home on Sunday.
You take your best camping gear - or finest red neck camping gear, whatever works for you & have the best time ever!

Matt & I got out there on Friday afternoon and as soon as we got the camper set up, we were off to the main stage!

Matt isn't thrilled about this picture but, it's just too funny!

Headlights are important when you're intoxicated & are walking places that aren't well lit.  True story.

Saturday we were slow moving.  More me than Matt.  Thanks to a hang over && Mother Nature feeling the need to stop by for a visit, I felt as if I was killing over... another true story.
We finally got up & around, went to take showers in town @ a family members house & get some grub!  By the time we got back out to the festival it was party time again!

It was such an honor!

On that note...

I can't wait to go back next year!  It's one weekend where all the cares go out the door & you let loose & have a good time!  All with great friends & cold beer... What more could you want!?
