Friday Funnies!

Happy flippin' Friday y'all!

I am SO excited the weekend is finally here!  If Mother Nature loves me & my BFF she'll hold off on the rain until Monday & let me hit up Canton Trade Days on Saturday!

Recently, I've been seeing some negativity around the blog world & this makes me sad & upset.  To me, our blogs are OUR space to come & say & do as we please.  If I say something or post a picture you don't agree with, think is wrong, immature - whatever you think it is, that's O K because it's my blog & I don't think we'll all ever agree on everything.  I try to give this same respect to other bloggers but, it seems not everyone does.  Now, I haven't had any sort of bullying or negativity come my way via my blog but, when I see post like this & this - y'all it's just plain awful & makes my hear hurt.  We are grown adult women who should not be conducting ourselves in such ways!  We should be cheering each other on, congratulating each other, supporting each other, NOT nit picking every single little thing someone says or does & ridiculing them all over the internet!  Honestly, I think these sort of people need to dig REAL deep & figure out why it is they feel the need to act in such ways.  What is it in their heart that makes them need to tear someone down like that - all while sitting behind a computer screen??  I pray for these sort of people all of the time - honestly, I do.  If you're one of those people that feel the need to be like this to others, CUT THE CRAP & be nice!!!
Forgiven, not forgotten

OK, now that I got that off my chest let's move onto something a little more lighthearted & FUNNY!

You better believe it!

Truer words have never been spoken.

Life according to MASH

Hahaha! This is so funny & true!

Really Mom & Dad?
My favorite!

hahahaha this is so me!
Happens all the time!

Hopefully my venting didn't run anyone off but, I just believe we should all treat people the way we want to be treated.  It's the Golden Rule after all!

I hope y'all have a really great weekend!!!

DiY: Coasters!

Recently I've been trying to think of some different & unique gifts to give.  Of course I went to the 'ol trusty Pinterest for some pinspiration.  We have some friends that are getting married soon & they have opted out of doing the wedding registries.  When thinking about what to get them, NOTHING was coming to mind.  Finally, I found the perfect gift idea!

Monogrammed Coasters!!!

Ok, so I found the tutorial online but, now I can't find it... & I can't find the pin I used... Grr.

However, this was a SUPER easy  project & I know you'll love it!

Supplies needed:

4 4.25" X 4.25" tiles - $.16 each at Lowe's
Modge Podge - make sure you have the oragne label, it dries clear
4 pieces of scrap book paper cut into 4" X 4" squares
1 sponge brush
Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear Enamel spray
Small felt pads or rubber stickies (for the bottom of the coasters)
4 Monogram stickers for personalization - I used the stickers that you put on the pre-made pumpkins.  I chose "R" for their last name.

1. Clean your coasters for a smooth surface.

2. Modge Podge one layer on each tile & then place the paper on.  You will probably want to do one at a time as the modge podge will start to dry pretty quick.  Once you have placed the paper down, apply the sticker.  I didn't put Modge Podge between the letter & paper but, if I use these stickers again I will.  The "sticky" on them wasn't very "sticky".  & don't worry, the Modge Podge dries clear!  :)

*The first sticker I cut to the size of the paper & the other 3 I cut down just around the letter & that seemed to work better.

3.  Once all of the stickers are in place, Modge Podge over the stickers & paper 3 times letting them dry for 15 minutes in between each layer.

*Be sure to press out all air bubbles from the paper & the stickers as best you can before applying the top layers of Modge Podge.

4. Once the Modge Podge has dried, spray the Crystal Clear Enamel & let it dry for a good 30 minutes to an hour.  After everything is dried, place 4 of the rubber or felt pads on the bottom of the coasters in each of the four corners.  & You're done!

Please excuse the terrible picture quality & my dirty crafting towels.  :)

Y'all this was seriously one of the easiest projects (& inexpensive!) & I'm so proud of the way they turned out!  A little annoying waiting for the stuff to dry but, if you're impatient like I am, put a fan on it & it will all dry faster!  I will definitely be making these again!

These coasters could be used for multiple gift purposes - house warming, wedding, birthday's, anniversaries, college dorm rooms or houses... Your options are endless when you are wanting to personalize these!

The couple that I was gifting these to loves to try out different types of beer so I ran by Central Market & put together a 6 pack for them.  If you didn't know you can pick individual beers from any case & make your own 6 pack of any beers you want.

So, I paired the coasters with a mixed 6 pack of beer...
& they loved it!  (Tooting my own horn...) I got several compliments on them & the groom-to-be especially loved the mixed 6 pack!

Have you ever made coasters before?

Did you do anything different that did or did not work out?

Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.

I have a project that I'll be hopefully starting & finishing this weekend.  Going to pick up a couple of these today to go with the project!

Spray painted wooden letters from Hob Lob... Metal color!  Genius!
Hobby Lobby cardboard letters painted with metal spraypaint - so light you can hang them with 3m sticky strips!- AH! So much cheaper than the Anthropologie version!

Cute for fall

I know that was a pretty random bucket of pins but, that's how my life has been lately... random & busy/crazy.  I wouldn't want it any other way though!

Check out what everyone else is pinning over at The Vintage Apple!  You can follow me on Pinterest here... & let me know your Pinterest handle too... I LOVE finding new people to stalk follow!

Life Lately...

Heeyyyy y'all!  Happy Monday!

Most likely when you're reading this, I'll be clinching the arms of the dentist chair.  Matt & I have a hot date to the dentist today & let's just say that it's not my favorite place to be.  Wish us luck!

So, I've been a little MIA the last week...

Shall I catch you up on what I've been doing?

Umm K good!

- I've been busy at DR appts... Don't worry, I'm healthy!  Just yearly physical stuff.  :)

- I PICKED UP MY WEDDING DRESS!  It's not at home though, a couple alterations needed to be done.  Let's just say that it fits almost perfect however, I need to lose a few more lbs to be really comfortable in it.  (Not sure if any bride is ever totally comfortable in their dress).

- Speaking of losing weight, last week was a complete FLOP in the weight loss & fitness area!  Let's just say that I haven't felt so great so, I haven't been working out OR eating right!

- This weekend Matt was away so I had a complete girls weekend!

- I was able to get some engagement picture & wedding crafts done!  WOO HOO!

- I have some fun tutorials, so I think, to share with y'all about the crafts I did this weekend!

This week is going to be another busy busy week so, I don't know how much I'll be around.  But, I hope y'all had a good weekend & have an even BETTER week!!!

Monogram Yo Pumpkins!

Hey hey!

I know I said I would be here yesterday with the how-to but, that just didn't happen.  I'm here today though & I'm so excited to share with y'all my latest craft project!

As I'm sure most of you have seen on Pinterest, painted pumpkins are the latest thing!
dandelions and dragonflies: October 2011

Monogram pumpkin for front porch

What you'll need:
4 Pumpkins
Paint - I used fabric paint which worked out perfectly
1-2 stiff brisseled paint brushes
1 large sponge brush - you can find at Hobby Lobby, just not online

I picked up 4 pumpkins from the grocery store on Sunday & made sure they were all about the same size.  For all 4 it cost $19 & some change.  Once I got home I got a wet paper towel & cleaned each one.  I didn't scrub them or anything, just wanted to make sure all of the dirt was off.

Once they're cleaned, tape the stencils onto the pumpkins.

It's ok if they aren't completely taped down - what matters is getting most of the letter portion on the pumpkin.

Once the stencils are taped on you can begin with your first layer of paint.

After painting the first layer of the first three letters, I let it dry for a while before I took the stencils off.  The second "L" that I painted, I went ahead & took off the stencil immediately & that seemed to work the best.  After taking off the stencils, I used q-tips to clean up the edges of the letters.  Just lick, yes I said lick, the q-tip & follow along making smooth edges.  Honestly, I used several q-tips but, it worked great & gave me perfect edges!

Once the letters are completely dry, apply the modge podge.  If you've never worked with Modge Podge before just know that it goes on white & will dry clear.
I put the modge podge over the letter & all the way around it - like a circle around the letter.  When it dries it will have a full, shiny look to it.

After the modge podge dried, I hot glued a bow on to the top of each pumpkin.  The brown ribbon was just extra I had at home.  If I had thought about it before, I would have bought some big, glittery ribbon!  I LOVE all things glittery!

& your finished project!

I'm not done with the front porch yet but, I'm really happy with the way the pumpkins turned out!

What do you think?

Have you tried painting pumpkins?

Let me know how yours turns out!  I would love to see pictures!

Happy Fall y'all!

Weekend Rundown!

Happy Monday y'all!  Who's excited for this week??

Right... I didn't think you would be either.  Until we get to this next weekend, I'll tell ya about this last weekend....

You know when you have those weekends that you have no set plans but, everything works out perfectly?  Well, that was this weekend for us!

Friday I wanted to get some stuff done at the house but, stayed out shopping too late by the time I got home I vegged out on the couch instead!

Saturday morning I woke up pretty early (it seems I can't sleep late anymore to save my life).  I started cleaning & just could. not. stop!  Before I knew it, it was 1 pm & the house was CLEAN!

Since I didn't want to spend the rest of the day cleaning, I made myself quit & we were off to lunch & check out Grapefest!

Ice Sculptors working their magic!

We stopped in for a free show at the Grapevine Opry.  All of the artist were really good & Matt & I want to go back to make a date night out of it!

This guy might not look familiar but, does this tune sound familiar?  Well, he is the one who composed that little jingle!  Pretty neat huh?  I thought so!

Sunday was filled with grocery shopping, church, fall decorations & craft projects!

I've been dying to dig into my Fall decorations & make some new decorations as well!
& that's just what I did yesterday!

What do you think??  Of course I got the idea from Pinterest!

Come back tomorrow for my full recap of how to make your own monogrammed pumpkins!

Hope y'all have a great Monday!

Did You Know?

Hey y'all!  Happy Tuesday!!!

I wanted to share a little somethin' somethin' with y'all today.

For a little while now I've noticed that when I am replying to your comments that you leave, sometimes my replies back don't go through.

& This makes me sad!  I love that y'all leave comments here & I want to interact with y'all!  So, I wanted to show you something that you may not know about.

Have you noticed that you don't get any responses back when you comment on someones blog?  You might have your settings set to "noreply-commentor..." & therefore, can't receive e-mails back.

Now, some of you may have this set for privacy reasons but, I promise, getting to interact with each other really can be a great thing!  But, I understand your wishes.

If you would like to know how to change these settings, follow the steps below & you'll be interacting in no time!  :)  *These are instructions for the new Blogger Dashboard but, are basically the same for the old format as well.*

Step #1
Go to the top right corner of your Dashboard & click the down arrow then click Blogger Profile.

Step #2
Click Edit User Profile.  Check the box that says Show my email address.  Scroll to the bottom & Save Profile.

& You're done!  Go to your blog & leave a test comment if you don't believe me!  (Don't worry, you can always delete it! :)

Easy peasy huh?

I bet you might get a few more e-mails now!  :)

Let me know if you have any questions & I'll try to help as best I can!

& before I leave here today, I ask that you take a moment & remember those who have lost their lives due to the tragedy that shook our country 11 years ago today.  Today, I pray for those lost & those living.  May God be with them in these trying times & hold them a little closer today.
I cannot & will not ever forget that day.

Weekend Rundown: Color Run!

Happy Monday!!!

This weekend was one for the books!  We did the Ft. Worth Color Me Rad 5k!

Despite Matt not feeling so great, he mustered up the strength & still did it with me!  Since he wasn't feeling so great, we decided to just walk instead of run/jog it.  (It's a good thing we did because he did not feel very good after!)  :/  Whoops!

All I can say about this 5k is that I HIGHLY suggest doing it!  It was a big mess & a lot of fun!

I'm going to let the pictures do the rest of the talking.  So, here's our messy/fun pictures!

1. Matt & I
2. Hannah & Brady
3. Brady testing out our "high-tech" camera
4. Group picture
