DiY: Painted Cork Board

Whoop Whoop!  It's Thursday!  One day closer to Friday & the weekend aaaannnnd ma birthday!

For some reason I'm excited about my birthday this year.  But, I'll save the rest of that for tomorrow.  What's most important today is the Saw it. Pinned it. Did it. link up hosted by Stephanie & Katie!

At work I have a small cube.  I've done pretty good at filling up my space but, there's one spot on the wall next to my window that is blank.  Blank & boring!

I thought about putting up a few picture frames but, then I found an even better idea on Pinterest.  Duh.

I stumbled upon these two painted & decorated cork boards & instantly had my idea in my noggin'!
Painted a picture frame, removed the glass, put in cork board, and stamped a fleur de lis on it.

So, off to Hobby Lobby I went!

Supplies Needed:
Medium sized cork board
1 paint color for the border & 1 paint color for the design
Twine or Jute (not pictured)
Painters tape or masking tape (also not pictured)

Start by taping off the inside boarder of the cork board so the paint doesn't get on the cork when painting the border.

Once the border is dry & you're ready to add your design, do a practice run to make sure that it will come off the sponge correctly.

After getting your design on the cork board (hopefully it all turned out great) you'll want to take a small paint brush & paint a second coat so it will pop & be more visible.

Once all the paint is dry, secure the Jute or Twine on the back for your "hanger".

Find some fun push pins.  Grab some of your favorite snap shots & you have one cute looking cork board to hang in that bare space in your cube!

I just love the way my cork board turned out & am excited to now have it in my office cube!

What have you been painting lately?

Is a cork board on your list of crafts now?

This could really be used in several different ways... just get a little creative with it!

Be sure to check out what everyone else has Saw, Pinned, Did over at Stephanie or Katie's!

XOXO,
      Shayna
