Our First Weekend as Mr. & Mrs.

HI FRIENDS!!!

Wow!  So, it's been a little bit since I've been back here.  A lot has happened & a lot has changed - all in a good way of course!  Matt & I have both been re-adjusting to "normal" life & things are going great!  I'll be sharing all of the fun wedding festivities with y'all soon (as soon as I get my pictures together) but, for now I'll share what exciting stuff we did our first full weekend as Mr. & Mrs.!  So weird to see/type/say that!

Friday evening was spent with my best friend & her fiance grilling out & helping her pick out outfits for their engagement pictures! Such exciting stuff!!!  Saturday morning we were woken up by the cutest little alarm clock there ever was....

Our Bingham!
& then we spent the rest of the day running errands & celebrating our nephew's 6th birthday party!

Sunday... oh Sunday!

Since we bought our house, we haven't been able to do much "updating" due to the final weeks of wedding planning.  Last week we decided that this weekend would be dedicated to sprucing up the front yard.

We're half way there....

Front flower beds before... & Bingham our model

After tearing out the flower beds on the left, which was easy compared to the right side, we had to make a quick trip to Home Depot.  (If you follow me on Insta come say HI @shayna_y)  & My Hobby Lobby trips have now turned into Home Depot trips!  HA!

Once we started on the right side, we quickly figured out that it was going to be much more difficult than the other... Matt went ahead & took matters into his own hands & busted out the chain saw!

& then we dug & we dug & we dug... until all of the little root systems were out.
Well, most of them at least!

We drew out where we want the new flower beds to go & Matt transplanted some of the grass to the back yard.  Better than just dumping good St. Augustine grass right!?

Finally, we cleaned up our big mess & 7 hours later we're done cleaning out the old flower beds!

Before & after...

This week we plan to pick up the new shrubs & flowers & get them planted.  Next weekend we'll tackle the back yard!  It was a lot of hard work & I'm sore as can be from all of it but, I know that soon, very soon, it will all be so worth it!

What did y'all think we were going to sit around & be all lovey dovey all weekend or something!?  Oh you thought maybe we would relax a little??

I think everyone knows us well enough to know that we don't slow down very much... that's ok though.  This was the perfect way to spend our first full weekend as Mr. & Mrs.  After all, there was quite a bit of team work & bonding happening!  :)

How did you or would you spend your first weekend as Mr. & Mrs??

I'm SO happy to be back blogging & SO excited to share our big day with y'all!!!

Have a great week y'all!

  3. SO glad to have you back! I've been thinking a lot about you these past 2 weeks and can't WAIT to see the pics of the wedding! And call me weird, but I LOVE landscaping work. I used to do it as a summer job and had a blast! The end product will look SO good. And here's a hint-use small river rock instead of mulch/cedar/bark. With rock, there's almost no maintenance and no replacing. With the others, you have to fluff it up a couple times a year so it looks fresh, and add more every year usually too. Just my little piece of advice-at least that's what I would do :)

  5. Looks like a good, productive weekend as husband and wife! On our first weekend, almost a year ago, we spent it celebrating our hometown's 125th anniversary with all sorts of activities.
