Miniature S'mores!

Last week Matt volunteered to take a dessert for his companies Thanksgiving potluck on Friday.  Which actually meant that I was making a dessert for him to take to work.  All was good though because I was able to bust out one of my favorite old recipes that I haven't made in a couple of years!  This is the perfect treat for a quick Thanksgiving dessert or to greet your guest with at your upcoming Christmas party!

8 Graham Crackers
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
6 oz melted butter
12 Large Marshmallows
3 Hershey's Milk Chocolate bars

*You will also need a mini muffin pan {like this one} & a mini tart shaper {like this one}

One - Preheat oven to 350*.  Place the graham crackers in a large baggie & crush into small crumbs.  Once the graham crackers are crushed mix the graham crackers, melted butter, & powdered sugar together in a bowl.  This will make a crust type consistency.

Two - Spoon the graham cracker crust into the mini muffin pan then use your mini tart shaper to carve out a mini cup shape of the crust.  Then, place the tray in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the crust begins to bubble.

Three - While the crust is in the oven, cut the 12 large marshmallows in half & break up two of the candy bars into the individual bite size pieces.

Four - Once the graham cracker crust is out of the oven, place the mini chocolate bars in each crust then add a marshmallow piece on top, sticky side down.  Place the pan back in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the marshmallows begin to brown or puff.

Five - Let the smore's cool for about 30 minutes.  Then, melt 1 Hershey's chocolate bar in a microwavable bowl in 30 second increments - being sure not to burn the chocolate.  Once the smores are cooled & chocolate is melted, either dip each one into the chocolate covering the top of the marshmallow OR drizzle the chocolate over each marshmallow.  Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve!

I hope you enjoy these delicious little treats!!

Gallery Wall -Update!

Weeks ago when looking ahead at my calendar I realized that this last weekend was the only weekend Matt & I had that was completely free of any obligations.  Knowing that the holidays would be coming faster than I could say "Happy Thanksgiving" I told Matt I was reserving the entire weekend for him & I.  Whatever we needed or wanted to do, we would have the entire weekend to do it!

One of the things on my list that I really wanted to get done was our gallery wall.  I already had a gallery wall going but, I wasn't in love with it & I wanted to incorporate some wedding pictures in as well.  A couple weeks ago Easy Canvas Prints sent me an 8 x 10 canvas print picture from our wedding day!  This was the perfect boost to print out the rest of our wedding pictures & get them hung!

I'm generally a pretty creative person & have a solid idea of how I want our home to be decorated, look like & overall feel.  But, when it comes to gallery walls, I hit a brick wall!!  I never want it to look too cohesive but, I also don't want it looking a hot mess.  I feel like I met a perfect medium here!  I still have a couple things I want to add {because I thought of them while putting the wall together} but, for now it is mostly done!

I've never had a picture printed on canvas before so, I really didn't quite know what to expect.  I really didn't expect it to arrive as quick as it did but, boy was I {pleasantly} surprised when the UPS guy stopped in front of my house when he did!!  The canvas material seems to be pretty thick & durable.  There's a wall hanger nicely placed on the back for easy hanging.  I think this is a canvas print that will be around for many years to come!

I feel like the canvas print fits in perfectly with my collection of frames {all bought from Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Home Goods & Ross} & gives an extra pop as well.  Now, I'm just trying to decide what picture & where I want our next canvas print to go!!

Be sure to check out Easy Canvas Prints for all of your canvas picture needs - They truly are a quality product & company!

Five on Friday!

This week has been one. hectic. week.  at work.  It's been one productive week at home though which is always awesome!

Join the Friday fun with Christina, Darci, Natasha & April!!

One - As mentioned above, it has been a super productive week on the home front.  Yes, I do the normal stuff of cook dinner, clean house, etc. but, two nights this week as soon as I got home I was in a race with the sunset!  I was finally able to work in the yard a little bit, clean up some falling leaves, acorns that the darn squirrels insist on pelting our cars with and anything else that needed to be cleaned up... our yard went from skanky to acceptable!... Now this morning it is covered in leaves again!  HAHA!

Two - It's official... the weather has turned cooold & it's supposed to be all kinds of nasty weather this weekend!  Which only means one thing... CHRISTMAS DECORATING!!!  Being that we're in our new house this year, I can't wait to decorate in new ways with my new & old decorations!

Three - It only took me 6 1/2 months but, I have finally printed off wedding pictures!!  Will be updating our gallery wall this weekend with all the new prints!  Check back Monday!!

Four - This Winter season Ft Worth is getting it's very first outdoor skating rink!!!  I have not been ice skating since I was a little girl so, when I found out about this ice skating rink I got all kinds of giddy & nostalgic!!  My girlfriends & I already have plans for a big group date with our guys in December but, I might have to go before then too - I'm just SO excited!!

Five - Last week I caved for the first time this season & went to Starbucks!  It had to be documented!
Can you believe I waited so long??

Hope y'all have a great weekend & stay warm!!!

Wedding Rewind - The Details!

I got out of the groove of recapping our wedding and sadly, this is pretty much the last of the recaps... Good thing I've finished before our one year anniversary!  HA!

Our wedding day really was the perfect day.  If I could recreate it & do it all over again, I would!  The only thing I would change is time... I would slow it down.  The whole day just went so fast & it's true what some say - there are parts I don't remember or are just a complete blur.  Thankfully we have our pictures to look back on & everyone who attended has different stories to tell about the day.  It's fun hearing others talk about our wedding day & how they experienced it!

Today I want to show y'all all of the tiny details.  I don't have near as many pictures as I would have liked but, what can you do?  I'm so thankful for my bridesmaids, friends & of course, Liza - without her none of this would have come to fruition.  Liza took my ideas & ran with them and everything turned out absolutely beautiful!!

A little picture heave here but, I hope you enjoy!

Like I said before, all of these beautiful details would not have been possible without Liza!  I wish I had more to show off just how beautiful it all was... it truly brought me to tears to my eyes even before everything was done!  Can we do it all over again??  :)

The Big 2-7!

This last Saturday was my birthday & I turned the big 2-7!!!

On Saturday I had plans to go wedding dress shopping with my best friend & other girlfriends for her big day next year so, we celebrated my birthday on Friday instead!  It all worked out perfectly because we stayed out too late Friday night which meant I crashed on the couch Saturday night! #oldladydontcare

For every birthday in our office at work we decorate each person's cube, go out to lunch & devour a dessert of the birthday girls choice!!  The girls in my office did not disappoint!  My cube was so festive & the cake was so adorable I almost didn't want to eat it!  I did though!  Couldn't resist my favorite Red Velvet cake!!

For dinner Friday night we went Downtown Ft Worth to Sundance Square.  We ate at this fun little place, Cowtown Diner.  The menu had me at Chicken & Waffles!  Everything on the menu sounded so go & I don't think there was one complaint in our 15 person group about the food!  If you're ever in Ft Worth & looking for some good, true Southern food go here!
Amazing!  My mouth is drooling just seeing this again!

Matt was so sweet & picked up a Nothing Bundt Cake, Red Velvet... le duh!  Only the best ever!!

He got me the sweetest card with notes of being a new wife & my first birthday as a "Yancey".  He can be sappy like that from time to time & I don't hate it!  He's such a good man!

After dinner we walked over to the Flying Saucer to have some more drinks.
It was such a fun evening with so many great friends & family!  I'm so thankful for everyone who came to celebrate little 'ol me & know I am truly blessed by all of the wonderful friendships I have in my life!

Looking forward to 27 being a great year!!!

2 for 1.... Weekends!

To say that things have been busy around the Yancey house would be an understatement.  I know, it's that time of year & everyone else is equally as busy too.  I had to step back from the blog in order to keep things afloat here at home... Lawd have mercy I'm thankful for this coming weekend though!

Two weekends ago Matt & I along with two other couples, all went to Galveston, TX for the Lone Star Motorcycle Rally.  This was the second year that we traveled to this rally & it was so much fun!  We had been traveling so much that I was secretly dreading being out of town for another weekend.  However, this was the perfect getaway mixed with relaxation & fun!

We started Friday at the beach which was absolutely perfect.  No one else on the beach & it was perfectly clear.  Friday night & Saturday was spent in Downtown Galveston at the rally!

Sea Wall motorcycle parking... Pleasure Pier in the background

Matt's brother entered his bike in the bike show on Saturday!  Unfortunately, he didn't place.

The Strand at night!  So many bikes & so many people... such a fun experience!
& Yes, it takes all kinds of kinds!

This last weekend, my Aunt Cindi came to town for us to go see Theresa Caputo - The Long Island Medium in Dallas on Saturday.  She came to town on Friday & we had a full girls weekend!  I haven't had a girls weekend like that in a long time & it was absolutely perfect!  Friday was filled with shopping followed by dinner with Matt, my Dad & brother - we all had fun together Friday night!  Sundance Square in Downtown has been under construction for the last year +... this was the second weekend of it all being open & it was so beautiful!  So many people enjoying it all, I can't wait to go back!

Saturday was spent doing more shopping, getting pedicures & having lunch at the always delicious Yucatan Taco Stand!  Then we were off to Dallas to see the Long Island Medium!  Unfortunately, there were no cameras allowed and we didn't get read.  We had a great time though & it truly was a great experience!!

Have you ever been to a motorcycle rally?

Or have you ever been to a medium??
