October Goals

I know, I know... it's technically not yet October but, for once I'm going to be ahead of the game instead of a week behind.  Pat me on the back would ya?

Honestly, I'm a little sad to see September go.  Things have slowed down for a little bit - busy in different ways though and I really feel like I've been able to get myself out of the sinking hole I felt I was drowning in.  I'm not ready for October to whiz by & before we know it Christmas is here.  I just want to enjoy this time & soak up as much of it as I can!

But, Fall is definitely in full swing around here & I am loving it!  Let's look back at September

+ Finish front of the house remodels - Done & done!  (For now!)
+ Go to favorite gym 3+ times a week
+ Set up budget & stick to it ... We tried!  :)
+ Pay off two debts... We paid off one & put a good chunk in the other!
+ Plan 21st Birthday lunch for brother ... We had a fun afternoon!
+ Build dining room table ... we're tired of building this is def going on Oct!
+ Decorate for Fall - Done & I'm loving it!
+ Share house updates - coming soon!  So many pictures & stuff I want to share!
+ Share wedding pictures
+ E-mail wedding photographer & order coffee table book - a friend made me feel
better this weekend after sharing she hadn't ordered hers & they will soon celebrate 2 yrs!
+ Finish craft/DiY projects for front of house decorations
+ Participate in Treat Yoself Day - It was such a great day!
+ Plan a date day/night for Matt & I - even though we haven't gone on a date, we've spent some great quality time together & sometimes, that's all you need.
+ Plan Dad's birthday lunch - Fun day + a new recipe... coming soon!
+ Refinish bedside tables for master bedroom
+ Finish organizing the office - Does closing the door count!? ;)
+ Work on projects for new project - they've actually started working on themselves!
Must make this a priority though!!

Whew!  I would say I did pretty descent given the fact that the last couple of months before we're almost complete fails!  It's been a busy month but, I was able to get a lot done & enjoy it all along the way!

October Goals

+ Get back on meal plans & to the gym
+ Set up budget / Pay off one debt
+ Build dining room table
+ Begin sharing the new project
+ Decide on new blog design & launch it... with the new name!!!
+ Share house updates
+ Share wedding pictures
+ E-mail wedding photographer & order photo book!
+ Refinish bedside table for master bedroom
+ Organize the office
+ Print out wedding pictures for the house
+ Visit a pumpkin patch!
+ Design, order & print Christmas party invites - #ohmygoshican'tbelieveijustsaidthat
+ Organize Christmas card address list

Now that I've mentioned Christmas it's time for me to get out of here!

Happy Monday!

Happy Birthday Bingham!

There is a special little person err... fur person who has a birthday today!  Bingham turns 3!

When Bingham first came into our lives, I wasn't a dog person & we were in no need of a puppy and added responsibility.  Being just 6 weeks old in the top left pic, I fell in love with the little guy & was not taking "no" as an answer from Matt.  3 weeks later he was coming to his forever home with his forever parents.  We couldn't of made a better decision!
Can you believe just how wittle my baby was??
At times, in the beginning, I think Matt & I both questioned our decision.  Having a puppy is hard but, also, there was no way he was going anywhere else.  He's a crazy, funny little dog who never meets a stranger.  He has a load of toys that would put a kids toy box to shame.  He enjoys making new friends at the dog park & generally likes to play with the big dogs... think Weimaraner, Boxers, etc.  Bingham has no clue he's 15 lbs!  He's his dad's shadow & his mom's snuggle bear.  Speaking of snuggle bear, He loves to burrow - it's in his blood.  I couldn't imagine life without this little guy!  He is by far the best welcoming committee everyday & always knows how to put a smile on your face!

Happy 3rd Birthday little guy!

Now, to the toy store to celebrate??

Treat YoSelf Day!

Miss Shalyn declared last Friday as Treat Yoself Day!

We were to do anything that our little heart desired... sleep in with no alarm, shop 'til you drop, relax with manis and pedis, read a book, etc.

I chose to take my day on Saturday & go to breakfast with some of my girlfriends.  I love Lucille's & it was really nice to sip mimosas & chit chat with my chicks!  We don't get to do things like this often enough so it was a nice to all visit - especially since one was randomly in town from PA!

After breakfast we all went our separate ways.  I took off to some stores to see if there was anything I couldn't live without... fortunately for my pocket book I didn't find anything.

After, I headed over to a local vintage boutique store called Hale House Vintage Living.  I've been wanting to go to this store for forever now & I finally stopped in on Saturday!  The store looks to be made out of an old air stream - which is so cool & even from the road I could always tell they have awesome things!  I was right!

I wanted pretty much everything in the store but, decided on this adorable little Texas bracelet!
It's blurry, I know but, it has all of the major cities mapped out.  So cute & I love wearing it already!

The rest of the day I ran errands that needed to be done & went home to spend the beautiful afternoon with Matt.  It really was a great day - that went along with the perfect weekend.

When Shay originally came up with the idea of Treat Yoself Day, I thought it was genius, of course!  It's so important for each of us to set aside time for ourselves & just do something we want to do - no matter what it is.  I don't even have kids yet & I can say that life just flies by most of the time & it's hard to soak it in & take time to myself.  I can't imagine what life will be like when we do have kids.  I hope that you participated in Treat Yoself Day & if you didn't, plan something right meow!  You deserve it!!  (& go link up what you did!)

Fall In Our Home

This changing of the season is very different for Matt & I this year... well more for me than Matt.  He doesn't pay attention to all of the same things I do.  Anyways, it's different in several ways.

For starters, we're not just in a new house, we're in a new house that we bought and are making it our home.  Second, this will be our first Fall/Winter to be a married couple!  I can actually put a "Y" on our front door wreath and not look like freak since we're technically not married.  And third, we're only beginning to make memories in our new home in this husband & wife life and it is so much fun!

Since I'm still working on putting house pictures together, this is a bit backwards but, I hope you enjoy!

Fall wreath I put together with extra goodies from home

Some of my decorations are passed down from my mom (which I love) & some are new that I've collected or made.  I don't know about you but, it seems like Fall in general makes things seem much cozier & gives off a little more of that "home" feeling.

Have you decorated for Fall?

What does Fall look like in your home?

The. Perfect. Weekend.

The end.

Kidding!!  No but really, the first picture is breakfast Saturday morning with some great girlfriends & the second is relaxing Sunday night in our "home".  Everything in between is in my head & in my heart.

This weekend was one of those...

- Wake up to beautiful weather
- Open the house & take it all in
- Enjoy breakfast with great girlfriends
- Treat yourself to #treatyoselfday
- Take in the beautiful weather some more - serioulsy I can't get enough!
- Finally hang decorations
- Soak up wonderful memories with your nephews
- Stuff ourselves with amazing burgers & dessert until our eyes pop

- & relax on Sunday night in our decorated house that finally feels more like "home".

This weekend was all perfection bottled into one.  I was sad to see the weekend go so quickly but, as they say, "all good things must come to an end".  I'm looking forward to a great week though & another great weekend awaiting me on the other side!

Linking up with Sami today to share the shenanigans!

Hope you had a great weekend!  Happy Monday!

Five on Friday!

Hey y'all!  Happy Friday!!!

I'm linking up with Christina, Natasha, April & Darci for the awesome

One - House decorating is in full swing right now & I couldn't be more excited!  Finally!!  We've been in this house 5 months now & I'm beyond ready!  A little peak into what's been going on this week...

My helper is hotter than yours! ;)

Two - I am love, love, loving the iOS 7 update for the iPhone!  I recently purchased the 5 when they were running an awesome special on them at Target.  Even with the 5, it's like a completely different phone!  Who else has the update?  Are you loving it or hating it?

Three - This may sound lame but, I am LOVING the current weather we're experiencing in North Texas right now!  It's raining like crazy & the temperatures have dropped to the low 80's!!  That is HUGE y'all!  Especially considering my girlfriend in PA had 60* temps at 5pm a couple of weeks ago!

Four - Since things are slowing down we're nearing the end of this (current) big house project, I can focus on more things that I love & make me happy - one being blogging.  I fully plan to be more present here on my little space of the web & here's a few things you can look forward to seeing around here:
-House tours - during & after construction
-Fall in our home
-Wedding recaps & "How To" DiY wedding crafts
-A new look and name... I hope y'all will like it as much as I do!

Five - And saving the absolute best for last... My best friend is getting married today!!!  It's just her & her man, in Cabo, saying "I Do" at sunset this evening!  It breaks my heart to not be there but, I know they are having the time of their lives this week!  I hope it's full of fun & relaxation & that they make memories to last a lifetime!
Hiedi & I at my shower

Hiedi & I at her shower

I hope y'all have the best weekend!  Ours is jam packed but, I wouldn't want it any other way!

The Best of Intentions

Hey y'all!!  I know, weird to see me here right!?  It definitely feels weird sitting down & writing up a post.  However, I had so much more planned for this post, originally.  For starters, it was going to be out yesterday morning.  Second, it was going to have a few more pictures than just the 3 I've got for ya (& if you follow me on 'ol Insta then you've already seen them).  Sorry boutcha!

This weekend was exactly what I needed though.  The perfect dose of fun, productivity & relaxation all bottled into one weekend!  Friday night we had girls night IN.  In my opinion, these are some of the best nights!  My BFF made chicken fried steak and the rest of us pitched in with sides & dessert!  We were all in a food coma after but, I would do it all over again if forced to.  Ok, there's no forcing me... Where's the CFS??
Isn't her table settings just the cutest!?

Saturday I talked Matt out of bed by offering a stop at the donut shop if he would hit up some garage sales with me.  He didn't even tell me "yes" - He just got up & got ready, super fast!  Unfortunately for me, we didn't find any garage sales!  But, I scooped up an awesome deal of hand soaps & candles at Bath & Body Works, Bingham got to play at the dog park & we were back home to work on the house & watch/listen to college football for the day!

This is the only picture I got of house work we did this weekend!  We are finishing putting up trim & base boards, changing outlet & switch covers & then the decorating can begin!  I'll be sharing our new space with y'all very very soon!  I can't wait because it's been a lot of blood, sweat & tears... the tears are from me of course! :)

Sunday was a day filled with more finishing touches to the house & the list below.  It was the perfect Sunday afternoon & just what I needed.  Monday came & I was ready to take on the world!  Do you ever feel that way??

I hope you're having a great week so far!  I'm looking forward to getting back into our routine again & showing my face more around here as well!

September Goals!

(1 Sept) I can't believe September is already here!

It seems as though the 1st of the month always sneaks up on me!  Like, hello!  Where did August go!?  Thanks to Shay I was reminded to look back at my August goals to see what I accomplished & didn't accomplish & that it's time for September goals!

Speaking of that sweet girl, she's the one who inspired me to write out my monthly goals & it has helped SO much!  Do y'all follow Shay?  If not, you most definitely should.  She is just the best - plain & simple!  Later this month she's designating a day (Sept 20th) as a "Treat Yoself Day" for all of us hard working ladies to take some time to do something, anything for ourselves - this will be the day to put your foot down & do it!  Click the link above to find out more!

Let's take a look at August Goals....

+ Buy groceries & cook dinner... Once our kitchen is done, this will be easier
+ Workout ... Again, once house projects are done I can fit this in
+ Organize office / craft room... work in progress!
+ Plan a date night for Matt & I
+ Finish picking out wedding pictures
+ Help Kimberly pull off the best 30th Fiesta... Check!
+ Complete Living/Breakfast Nook/Kitchen project ... we are almost done!
+ Stay on or under budget for August... Failed miserably!

I can say that I did a little better than July but, definitely not great.  This house project has taken up almost any spare time I 've had so I decided I'm wiping the slate clean here & starting completely over with my goals.  Some will stay on for September but, I'm not going to beat myself up for not completing all of the above & keep them on just because they're incomplete.

September Goals

+ Finish front of the house remodels - we are so close!
+ Go to favorite gym 3 days/week
+ Set up budget... and stick to it!
+ Pay off two debts!!
+ Plan 21st Birthday lunch for little brother! Oh my gosh how did <---  that happen!?  I just took him for show & tell in Kindergarten yesterday!!!
+ Build dining room table
+ Decorate for Fall .... This makes me all kinds of giddy!
+ Share house updates
+ Share wedding pictures
+ E-mail wedding photographer & order coffee table book
+ Finish craft / DIY projects for front of house decorations
+Participate in Treat Yoself Day
+ Plan a date day/night for Matt & I
+ Plan Dad's birthday lunch!
+ Refinish bedside tables for master bedroom
+ Finish organizing the office
+ Work on projects for new project

Hmm... Talk about not beating myself up if I don't complete any goals!?   I know this month that we will not be consumed with the house project as we are (hopefully) nearing the end & finishing touches.  The days aren't already running together like they did in August and that alone lets me breath a little easier.  I'm excited for the month of September... it brings birthdays for 2 of my favorite guys among with a lot of new things... new (looking) inside of our house, Fall decorations, candle scents & hopefully cooler weather!  Keeping my fingers crossed for that one, we're still in the upper 90's - 100 here!  There's some personal stuff going on too that I won't go into too much here on the blog but, if all goes as planned a huge weight will be lifted off of mine & Matt's shoulders.  That alone could make this the best month.

What are your goals for September??

What are you looking forward to this month?
