Baby Yancey - 30 Week Bumpdate

I call this, "running around before a holiday road trip". Will update with a better picture later!

How far along: 30 Weeks

Baby Size: Baby boy is the size of a cucumber!  2.5 lbs - 3.8 lbs!

Weight Gain: Not sure but, will know later today at my appt!

Maternity Clothes: Yes, yes, yes!

Stretch Marks/Swelling: I don't know if it's true swelling but I think my feet were a little puffy yesterday. Hopefully it's just because the heater was acting up at work making it feel like Summer temps! Ha!

Sleep: Eh, it's ok. I'm officially sleeping in the recliner full time. Praying I can sleep descently away from home this weekend.

Food Cravings or Aversions: Nothing really... Sweets still sound good!

Gender: Boy! Definitely boy confirmed again last Saturday!

Movement: Still squirming about, a lot!  But I'm loving all of it!

Symptoms: Back & hip pain, jabs to my bladder & not being able to bend over anymore - lol!

Labor Signs: No way Jose!

Belly button in or out: I would say in but, it's pretty flat.

Wedding rings on or off: Off... & it makes me sad.

Mood: Ready... Ready for these next several weeks to go by & meet our baby boy!

Nursery: Ahh!! Matt finished painting the dresser this last weekend & once we return from the holiday we'll be getting even more done!

What I miss: Nothing really... Maybe my own bed. Lol

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby boy on the ultrasound monitor. We didn't get the best pictures because he's head down (praise Jesus!) & face backwards... & his umbilical cord was drifting across his nose. Lol. So, it was hard to see him but, baby boy sure loves his feet & toes & keeps those at his fave too!  It was the sweetest thing ever to see our baby boy!

What I'm looking forward to: Getting away this weekend & taking a break from life. It will be such a good refresher to see our families & just enjoy time with them & our last holiday season with just Matt & I... & Bingham!

Other Notables:

+ I was recently contacted by Osh Kosh B'gosh & they wanted to send me a gift for Jack. I thought, "well, how sweet!" & seriously only expected maybe a onesie... Wrong!  Last Saturday Matt & I arrived home to our gift from Baby B'gosh & we were floored at all of the adorable items they gifted Jack with!!  I absolutely cannot wait to put him in these outfits & see some precious photo ops ahead!

I hope that y'all have a Happy Happy Thanksgiving!!!  No matter who or where you're spending it, I hope you're spending it with people you love & are thankful for!

A Few of My Favorite Things - Stocking Stuffers

Stockings are one of my favorite things to buy & to receive!  As a kid growing up we always saved our stockings for last & there were certain things that we knew Mom Santa brought us each & every year but, it still made it so much fun!!

Other things that were included in our stockings as kids & that I still try to include in Matt's stocking (& next year Jack's!!) would be movies, CD's (what are those!?) or iTunes Gift Cards, fun fuzzy socks, sunglasses (the inexpensive kind), candies such as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - you know, the candy cane full!?

What are your favorite stocking stuffers??

Be sure to link up with April, Elise, Katie & Zelle!!!

House Tour - The Kitchen!

To say this post has been a long time coming is an understatement.  This poor kitchen was a bit of an eye sore when we first bought the house.  After living with it for a while & getting other things taken care of, this last May we dove head first & began the kitchen renovation.  We had the granite installed from a company in Dallas & we installed the back splash, under cabinet lighting, hardware, vent-a-hood & recessed lighting ourselves.  We also retextured the walls & ceiling as well as painted.  The floors are the only thing we have left to complete in this space but, it's merely a "we just don't want to tackle that job just yet" situation.  AKA we're being lazy.  This journey of turning our house into a home has been an exciting & exhausting one but, I'm so proud to say that Matt & I have done almost all of the projects ourselves!  We've learned a lot - about house remodel, ourselves & our marriage.  So, enough about the kitchen... here's what you really want...

If you have any questions about anything in the kitchen, feel free to ask!

Lilla Rose Hair Accessories

I recently received a couple of hair accessories from Rebekah @ Lilla Rose that have been fun to add to outfits & jazz things up a little bit.  I sit at a computer for 8 hours a day & typically wear a mini hair clip to keep my hair out of my face.  Sometimes even the 'ol banana clips are busted out... remember those!?  Anyways, Rebekah was nice enough to send me a set of Bobby Pins & Flexi Mini from Lilla Rose & they have both been fun additions.  Both hair accessories would be the perfect addition to a birthday gift or even a stocking stuffer for your favorite lady!

The bobby pins are heavy-duty so, sure not to fall out of your hair or loosen & perfect for girls with thick hair like myself.  I've used both but, here I only used 1 for how I was styling my hair... hiding my roots!

I must admit when I opened the Flexi Mini I was a bit confused as to how it worked!  Luckily, there was a quick 1, 2, 3 how-to included & I was using the Flexi Mini in no time!  The Flexi Mini is a fun alternative to the regular hair clips I typically use & adds a little fun to my go-to hair do.

Like these hair accessories also??  Visit Rebekah's Lilla Rose site here & be sure to check out what else Lilla Rose offers!  Be sure to message Rebekah once you've placed your order & spent $40 or more before tax & shipping... You'll receive 1 free Flexi!  Offer valid for U.S. customers only & expires December 1, 2014.

Crock-Pot Pot Roast {Recipe}

Since we received our crock-pot as a wedding gift, I figured it was time I start trying more recipes other than queso for parties.  When thinking of recipes to make in the crock-pot, Matt requested that we make a pot roast.  I've only made a pot roast in the oven so, I was a little hesitant just because I didn't know how it would turn out.  Turns out.... it was pretty darn good!  So, enough of my rambling here's the recipe that I put together from a couple different pot roast recipes.

2 lb Pot Roast
3 small Potatoes - peeled & diced
1/2 an Onion - diced
8 oz. Baby Carrots
2 Cups of Chicken Broth
1 Cup Water
1 Packet Brown Gravy Mix
Salt & Pepper - to your desire

One - Trim the fat from the roast, peel & dice the potatoes & dice the onion.

Two - Place the Roast in the Crock-Pot along with all of the ingredients.  Mix together as best you can.

Three - Place your crock-pot on low & cook for 6 - 8 hours.

I can say that after cooking this recipe & testing a couple others, I am hooked on crock-pot recipes!  I hope you enjoy this one!!

What are your favorite Crock-Pot recipes?

Baby Yancey - 29 Week Bumpdate!

How far along:  29 weeks

Baby Size:  Baby boy is the size of an Acorn or Spaghetti Squash.  Weighing in between 2.5 - 3.8 lbs & is 15.2 - 16.7 in. long!

Weight Gain:  Up 3 more pounds for a total of 18

Maternity Clothes:  Yep!

Stretch Marks/Swelling:  No new stretch marks & no swelling, thankfully!

Sleep:  Ugh... I won't go into details but, it's been pretty terrible this week

Food Cravings or Aversions:  Umm... Chicken & Waffles & Pecan Pie.  I know, I'm super healthy!

Gender:  BOY!

Movement:  Tons of movement!  I'm pretty sure that Jack knew Sunday was my birthday because all night Saturday night he was having a dance party in there!!  I'm telling y'all, I'm scared for what this means for us when he's here... I think we're going to have a boy on the move!!

Symptoms:  Still lots of back pain & some hip pain.  I can't hardly sit without having to have a pillow to support me.

Labor Signs:  Thankfully no

Belly button in or out:  In

Wedding rings on or off:  Engagement ring on

Mood:  Mostly happy - tired of hurting though & just want sleep.

Nursery:  A little progress is being made.  I did get two loads of laundry done this last weekend that Jack's cousins passed down to him!  That was fun!

What I miss:  Honestly, just my back not hurting.  If it wasn't for this I would really feel great!

Best moment this week:  Celebrating my birthday!  It truly was one of the best birthdays!

What I'm looking forward to:  Our 3D/4D Ultrasound this Saturday morning!  My Dad & Matt's parents are getting to go with us which I think is super special.  The thought of being able to see our little boy & have some sort of idea of what he's going to look like just fills my heart with so much joy!  I'm certainly anxious for Saturday morning to get here!

Other Notables:

+ I think it's safe to say that we have found our pediatrician!  I am so thankful to have this major item checked off the list!  {If you're looking for a pediatrician don't be afraid to interview multiple ones - it's who you have to deal with at all the DR appts & who's going to be caring for your baby so, don't settle!!}

My Christmas Wish List!

I can't believe it's that time of year already but, it is... and it's the most wonderful time of the year!  Typically, I like to be the one giving the gifts to family & friends but, have to admit it's still fun getting a little something for Christmas too.  So, I'm sharing my Christmas wish list with y'all today & maybe it will be a little help for those requesting gift ideas for me.

We've had our DSLR camera for about a year or so now & it's time for a new camera strap!  Matt uses the camera some too so, I don't want it to be too girly but, I'm loving these Aztec camera straps from Phat Straps on Etsy.  Even better that this shop is based right here in Ft. Worth - shop small, shop local!

With Jack due to arrive just 4 weeks after Christmas, I would love a jewelry piece representative of my soon-to-be new title.  Both of these rings are from James Avery & while I love the Mother's Love ring, I also love the idea of having Jack's initials engraved on the top of the Twisted Wire ring.

I have a pair of riding boots that I love dearly but, after two years of wearing them like I have no other pair of shoes, it's about time to replace them/add to the collection before they completely wear out.  Pink Lou Lou shared these on Instagram one day from Red Dress Boutique & I fell in love with them!  So, they're on the list & here's to hoping they're under the Christmas tree!!

I just received a fleece pajama set from Matt for my birthday but, they are so soft & comfortable that I want more!  If I could wear them to work, I would!  Somehow I don't think that would go over too well.  Darn!

A few other ideas would be a pre-natal massage & gift cards to Bath & Body Works &Victoria's Secret.  Love gift cards... even though I dislike giving them!

I'm excited to see what's on everyone else's Christmas wish list & linking up with April, Elise, Katie & Zelle!

What's on your Christmas wish list?

Birthday Weekend!

This birthday weekend was definitely one for the books - nothing short of awesome filled with good food, great friends & family!  28 is looking pretty darn good!

Friday started off with lunch out with the office ladies at Mexican Inn - one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants!!  Then we had an oh-so-delicious Red Velvet cake for dessert!  It was too cute we almost didn't want to cut it... almost!

Friday was topped off with a delivery of a dozen roses from my love & a doctor appt to check on our baby boy!
{He's doing great - strong heart beat!}

Sunday, my actual birthday was the perfect Sunday + some!  Several friends met us at a local "brewery" for brunch, Brewed.  Matt or I had never been there but, they had chicken & waffles on the menu (which was all I wanted!) & it looked like a really fun place... turns out it was all that & more!  The service was great, drinks were delicious & everyone loved the food!  So basically, we've found a new favorite eating spot in town!

Delicious Macchiato

Some of the best Chicken & Waffles I've had!

& Pecan Pie to top off a great lunch!

Our crew at Brewed!

Sunday evening was spent relaxing, sipping hot chocolate (because it's been extremely cold here recently!!), snuggled up in my new fleece pj's & spending quality time with my guys!

28 started out perfectly & I am looking forward to everything this year has in store for me!  Thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes on FB & Instagram - I've felt very loved!  A very special thank you to my husband, words can't really express how grateful I am for you - you sure know how to make me feel extra special & loved a lot!!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday y'all!  I am definitely ready for this weekend... Looking forward to productivity, good food & friends!

Linking up with the 5 on Friday girls today, April, Christina, Natasha & Darci!

One - I was looking back through bump pictures the other day & cannot believe how much my bump has changed over the last several months!!  It's crazy how significant of a change your body goes through... I'm in awe daily!
Top left to bottom right - Weeks 13, 15, 17, 19/20, 22, 24, 26 & 27

Two - It has been extra cold here this week (thanks polar vortex!) & I am loving it!!  The leaves are all falling (we're a bit behind here in Texas!), I've been able to stay cozy in all of my fun sweaters & these crazy pregnancy hormones are loving it too!!  Anyone else super hot when they were pregnant!?
The bump is out in full force today! {29 Weeks!}

Three - As much as I'm excited about Thanksgiving coming up (because who doesn't love stuffing their faces & sliding into a food coma!?) I am oh-so-ready to start decorating for Christmas!  Last year we were a bit of fuddy-duddies... I decorated & we put up lights but, our poor Christmas tree didn't see one single ornament!!  I think we were so busy doing house projects that I just didn't feel up to it.  This year that all changes though!  Matt & I have even been talking of ways to include Jack since he'll make his arrival approximately 1 month later!

Four - This week I have been reminded of just how awesome my co-workers are & what a great place I work at!  I've always known this but, it's easy to forget through the day-to-day things.  It's just so nice to know & remember - I'm so thankful for where I work!

Five - Confession... I'm caving to the plaid scarf fad...!  I can't say I never fall into "what's in style" but, let's just say I've never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte... GAASSSPP!  I KNOW!  But honestly, I'm loving the plaid scarves & may have to go buy one with birthday money if someone didn't read my mind ahead of time & gift me one!  HA!  I'm loving this one from Target & think it would look great in Fall/maternity pictures!!
Oversized Plaid Scarf - Multicolored

Hope y'all have a great weekend!!!

My Favorite Maternity Stores

Being a girl & getting dressed on a daily basis isn't typically the easiest task in the world.  Add in weight shifting, bigger boobs & a growing belly & let's just say things can get interesting.  If you're like me, one week something fits & the next week it needs to be shoved to the back of the closet.  It's hard & frustrating... especially when you're just trying to get out of the house & off to work.

Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite maternity sites!  I'm a bargainista through & through and believe in buying quality items at discount prices so, nothing here breaks the bank & was on sale at one time or another!

Tips for Buying Maternity Clothes
+ Buy only sale items
+ Look for discount codes for free shipping & additional percentages off your overall order
+ Sign up for discount e-mails - if you don't need them you can trash them!
+ Sign up for mailers to arrive in your mailbox
+ Buy in advance - if you know you're expecting now but, will be in need of maternity clothes in the Spring/Summer, shop store clearances.  They're "out with the old, in with the new" right now!
+ When trying to figure out what size you are, it's best to go up 1 size from your normal, pre-pregnancy size
+ Don't think you're going to be a giant & go up 2 sizes - then, you will feel like a giant when wearing said clothing items, trust

If you've read any of my bumpdates you already know just how much I love, love, love Motherhood's leggings!  Like, let's say I have 5 black pairs, 1 brown & 1 grey - They're that good!  I'm a sucker for comfort so, most of the time you'll find me in leggings but, I've also found that the Jessica Simpson Maternity Skinny Jeans fit like a glove.  They are like a regular jean material but, still have enough stretch to them to fit comfortably.

{For shorter ladies, grab the petite style - in maternity clothes it means nothing more than being 3" shorter than the regular fit}

I've also bought a few tops from Motherhood Maternity that are very comfortable & flattering for the growing bump - tieing just above the bump & long enough to cover the booty.  They're comfortable yet, still make you feel like you're dressing up!  {These are similar}

Old Navy

Old Navy - it's a classic store; It's been around forever & we all love it!  When I recently had a "growth spurt" I found myself putting more & more things at the back of the closet & having fewer items to wear without wearing them once a week.  I ended up checking out with 2 sweaters, 2 tank tops, 1 long sleeved tee & 1 Tunic.  I have gotten compliments on each top I've worn & can honestly say that each of them is so soft & comfortable yet I still feel like I've "dressed up" - Win! Win!  These are each perfect for pairing your favorite scarf or long necklaces with & can be worn with leggings or jeans!
1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Tank tops that are perfect for layering found here!

Pink Blush Maternity

This is a super fun store that always has things to keep the momma-to-be looking super cute & fashionable.  I've only bought a few tops from here but, I can say that I have loved each of them!  2 have even made appearances in my weekly bumpdates!
1 / 2 {Both on sale still!}

Other mentionable stores that are great for maternity bargains...

I hope this list of stores will help you on your maternity shopping journey!  I'm not much of a "shopper" but, enjoy finding quality clothes that fit good, are comfortable & you know will last you + not break the bank!  Happy shopping mommas!!

Five on Friday - A Funny, a Cardi & a Bargain

Happy Friday friends!  It's been a busy, productive week in the Yancey house so, I'm happy to see the weekend come.  It's filled with plenty to do as well but, being able to get out of the city for a bit & seeing good friends makes it all something to look forward to!

Linking up with the Five on Friday ladies... April, Christina, Natasha & Darci!

One - With the DVR we don't watch a lot of commercials but, this Geico one that Matt made me watch one evening literally makes me LOL every time I see it!  Therefor I think you should watch it too if you haven't already!
"Whoo!  Get some cold cuts!  Get some cold cuts!"

Two - Yesterday Meg shared her favorite cheap makeup items.  If you don't know by now, I'm a bargainista through & through so, this post spoke right to my heart!  I've already pinned this & can't wait to do a little shopping this weekend... err maybe on my lunch hour today!  Because of course I'm out of multiple makeup items all about the same time - How does that always happen??
The Best Cheap Makeup, best drugstore makeup, makeup under $10

Three - This last February I bought this aztec cardigan at the stock show but, never got the chance to wear it.  Now with the weather turning a bit cooler I've been able to wear it a couple of times & I really love it!

Four - Did you know that you can now follow The Fancy Yancey on FaceBook?  It's true!  Feel free to "like" my page & say HI!  If you already follow along there, thank you!!

Five - Last night we tried a new chili seasoning/recipe & it was really good!  A little spice & great flavor!

1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey
McCormick Chili mix
1 Can Kidney Beans
1 Can Diced Tomatoes

+ Brown meat in pan & drain grease.
+ Add the Kidney Beans & Diced Tomatoes - both undrained
+ Bring to a simmer & then cook on low for 10 minutes
+ Add cheese or sour cream & enjoy!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!
