Life Lately!

Goodness... it feels as if I have every intention of popping in and making this more of a regular thing but, truth is I haven't felt like there's much to blog about.  But, here's what we've been up to lately...

The weather has been quite nice to us lately (sorry for y'all still getting snow!) so we've been taking a few more motorcycle rides.  Friday evenings that were meant for a quick dinner out turned into beer tasting a a local pub.... it happens. & We had fun... so there's that!

Breakfast with my besties & celebrating that one is with child!!!  Such an exciting year 2014 is turning out to be!  We'll have a wee one by Thanksgiving!!

I won tickets on the radio to the Ft Worth Food & Wine Festival kick-off event at Billy Bob's last Thursday.  We ate so much food & tasted several different drinks... There really wasn't anything that we didn't like (shocker) but, some of our favorites were mini-tacos & quail burgers - amazing!  After the food & wine festival was over, Stoney Larue played on the main stage.  It was such an awesome concert because they usually have tables & seating right in front of the stage but, lucky for us they were all removed this night so, we were right next to the stage!  Stoney, up close & personal... Does it get any better??  I think not!!

As mentioned before, the weather has been quite nice here lately & this weekend was no exception - specifically Saturday.  A lot of house work was on the agenda for that day but, it got pushed to the side & a trip to the dog park & Trinity park took it's place.  I wish every Saturday could be like this last Saturday - it was perfection!
Hello Ft. Worth!

In between all of the fun we've been working on the house... slowly but, surely we're getting there!!  We're getting back on track with our eating habits & working out too.  I made a meal plan for this week & brought my gym bag to work with me today... going straight to the gym after work before heading home!  I used to post my weekly meal plans here & I think I'm going to start doing that again!  So, if you're interested here's this weeks meal plan...

+Sunday - Fajitas
+Monday - Turkey Burgers
+Tuesday - Baked Chicken & Veggies
+Thursday - Tacos
+Friday - Baked Tilapia & Veggies

Happy Monday & cheers for Texas Rangers Opening Day!!!
Now if only I was at the ballpark!

XOXO,

Potted Spring Flowers - DiY

With the warmer days we've been having recently & Spring officially here tomorrow!! I've been really wanting to spruce up our front porch with some pretty spring flowers.

I already had the planter I wanted to use & knew I would spruce it up with a burlap bow.  So, then it was off to Home Depot to pick up flowers & potting soil.

What you'll need:
+Plant pot
+Potting soil
+Pretty flowers
+Wired burlap
+Scissors
+Hot glue gun & hot glue

Start by filling up the plant pot about 3/4 full then begin placing your flowers around in the top of the soil.  Once all of the flowers are arranged in place, top with more soil & voila!  To add a bow, just measure out around the pot.  Once your bow is measured & tied, hot glue around the back of the pot & the back of the bow to ensure that it stays in place.

The stool is an antique piece my mom used to decorate with & between seeing it & smelling the beautiful flowers everyday when I come home I can say I'm really happy with the new updates to our front porch!

How are you willing Spring to stay around?

XOXO,

Weekend Rundown!

This last weekend Matt & I & several friends traveled down to San Antonio for the guys to play in a washer tournament.  We've played washers plenty over the years but, I'd never been to a washer tournament.  Unfortunately, both teams were beat out in the first round.  So, it was off to Gruene to see what adventures we could get in to.  Mother nature was not on our side this weekend & we were running from place to place in order to get out of all the rain - not fun!  However, we made the best of it & still had a great time!  Saturday night we got to see Pat Green & Cory Morrow in concert at Floore's Country Store.  It was the first time I had ever been & to see Pat Green & Cory Morrow both, together... cha-yeah!  I was so excited!!  However, I hate the rain & ended up missing probably half of it seeking refuge inside.  What I did see was great though & by far one of the best concerts I'd ever seen!  I'll be looking for them playing together again for sure... if they do... & I'll stay for the entire concert, rain or shine!

Cory Morrow & Pat Green!!

Needless to say, we're happy to be back home where the sun is shining & the temperatures are in the 70's... & it's daylight outside until almost 8:30 or 9!!  Loving the time change now that my body has adjusted!!

5 on Friday

Happy Friday!!

One - Well, this happened yesterday!!  I have been to the gym/worked out 1 time since January 1st & I've been desperately needing to get back at it for a while now... a long while now.  Needless to say as I was wanting to die on the office floor yesterday & it hurts like no other to move today, I'm so glad I got in a workout & I am starting back up again!  Here's to an all around healthier me... & skinnier of course!

Two - Better late than never right??  I shared our Valentine's/5 year anniversary on the blog yesterday.  Check it out... do you & your significant other make it a point to have special date nights, in?  It was such a good evening for the both of us - I can't wait to have another date night soon!

Three - Last weekend I attended a baby shower for a dear friend of ours.  The sweet hostess gave one of the best gifts... Bath & Body Works lotions!  I received the Country Chic & let me tell y'all... it smells heavenly!  I haven't been in the store in a little while so, I'm not sure when this one actually hit the shelves but, take my advice & go get yourself a bottle... or two or three.  It smells so, so good!!
Country Chic Body Lotion - Signature Collection - Bath & Body Works

Four - Last week I was perusing different sites for some gender neutral colored curtains for our new office.  I stumbled upon these beauties (& yes for that price!) from Urban Outfitters & fell in love!  They are set to arrive on my door step today so, I cannot wait to get home & check them out in person!  Better yet, I can't wait to hang them up in our office!
Magical Thinking Dotted Medallion Curtain

Five - Speaking of curtains... Did anyone know that Hobby Lobby sells curtain rods (+ a ton of other curtain gadgets)!?!?  I found this on Pinterest yesterday & had to check it out for myself!  I will most definitely be hunting these down in the store to see just how comparable they are.  I think if you're not looking for anything too fancy, for the price they would be perfect!

Linking up with Christina, Natasha, April & Darci today!

Hope that you have a great weekend!!

Valentine's 2014

What's that old saying... Better late than ever, right?

So glad because today I wanted to share our Valentine's dinner date!  Matt & I always have dinner together each night & sometimes cook together as well.  What we've never done (sadly) is have a full on date night at home.  So, to celebrate Valentine's and our 5 year dating anniversary we had one of the best date nights ever, in.

Matt worked really hard to build our formal dining room table that luckily was done just in time for our dinner date.  (With all of the cold weather we were having it was almost impossible to to apply the clear coats & they dry properly).  To make it a perfect date night, we picked up delicious steaks to grill, got all dolled up as if we were going out on the town, turned the tv off & music on & turned phones/social media off.  While dinner was cooking we managed to get in a couple dances around the living room, talked & laughed together forever after dinner & topped off with a delicious dessert of red velvet cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

It truly was a great night for us & just what we needed!  If you're in the need for a special date night try a date night in.  Get dressed up, make it special... I promise you'll have a great time!  Why in all the years Matt & I haven't done this before (we do have date nights just none like this before) is beyond me but, I can promise that it won't be the last time!  To those of you who do already do special date nights like this, kudos to you - keep it up!

Hope y'all had a great Valentine's day & I hope you're still feeling the love!

XOXO,

A Weekend Full of Celebrations!

Well, what do ya know... It's Monday & I'm here... blogging!

This weekend was such an awesome weekend... full of so many celebrations that I'm thankful Matt & I were able to be a part of!  Saturday I was off to one of our good friends baby shower.  Zach & Kim have prayed for this baby boy for a long time & in just 3-4 weeks he will be making his way into the world.  I could't be happier for them, I know they are going to make great parents!

Saturday also brought us gorgeous weather... like a high of 80 & sunshine all day long!  Matt & I took advantage of a few spare hours Saturday afternoon & took the bike for a ride... celebrated TX independence day (a day early).  It was great to be back on the motorcycle on such a beautiful day!

Saturday night we celebrated one of my best friends birthdays (today is her actual birthday - Happy 27th Erin!!) at a delicious little Italian restaurant, Mamma Mia's.  From there we popped in at an engagement party.... the couple had gotten engaged earlier that afternoon & the groom-to-be had dinner & the after party all planned out!  I remember the day Matt & I got engaged & there was so much love and happiness going around... I knew they would be on that same "high" as we were & it was fun to see them just glowing!!

We also ran into TCU's head football coach Gary Patterson.  Cassie is a hoot & just chatted up a storm with him & He was nice enough to let us take some pictures too.  It was pretty neat to run into a local celeb, if I do say so!

Sunday brought freezing temperatures & sleet... Matt & I still braved the weather & made it to breakfast with another one of my best friends & her husband & then off to church.  The couch was calling my name loud & clear afterwords.  Of course the only logical thing to do was hold down the couch... & nap!

It truly makes my heart happy when weekends are filled with celebrations like this... babies, birthdays, engagements & just all around fun friend time!  I'm so grateful to be a part of all of these moments in everyone's lives!

XOXO,
      Shayna
