Life Lately...

Hey y'all!  I've had full intentions to pop back in here more often but, with only having access to our computer in the evenings now - which seem to fly by - it's just not as easy as it once was.  Maybe as time progresses I'll be able to carve out some time & get back to it.  Until then, I'll pop in from time to time when I can.  So, here's what's been going on around our part of the world lately....

Reading... I came across this the other day & got so choked up!  It is so true though!  Here we are wishing for something to hurry up & get here or we're "so tired of this or that"... You just never know when it will be "the last time".

Spending spare time... at Jack's changing table.  Sounds odd I know but, this boy turns into such a little ham after a good nap, full belly & clean diaper!  He is really starting to "talk" a lot & it's the cutest, most sweetest thing ever!  So, we spend a good 10-15 minutes chatting it up throughout the day at his changing pad!

Soaking up... All of the baby snuggles that I can possibly get!  Afternoon naps on the couch with Momma are the absolute best... says Momma!

This last weekend a girlfriend & I spent some time in Downtown Ft. Worth - the sun was out, it was warm, truly a gorgeous day!  This little stud was so good too!  These sunglasses were supposed to be in his Easter basket but, we had to bust them out a little early!

Buying... All of the rompers I can get my hands on!  Rompers are by far mine & Matt's favorite thing to put Jack in.  I love the way He looks in them + they are super convenient for changing diapers while out & about!  No more dealing with the onesie, pants & whatever else there is to put back together!

Wanting... To chop my hair off!  Someone has discovered my hair & pulls at it like crazy!  Since my husband would cry (& I would too!) if I chopped it off, I'm thinking of doing something along these lines but, a tad bit longer...
the perfect "in-between" cut made better by skipping the "awkward stage flip" choosing beachy curls over a super smooth style.

What have you been up to lately?

Five on Friday!

Hi Friends!  Happy Friday!  Or as some are calling it now days, Happy Fri-yay!  I kind of like it.  Adds just a little more cheer to your Friday!

I'm linking up with Christina, Natasha, April & Darci today for Five on Friday!

One - Earlier this week Matt & I decided to take advantage of the nice weather we were having & went out on our first "family of four" walk!  It was so nice to get out of the house & soak up the fresh air - safe to say we all really enjoyed it!  {& Bingham did great with the stroller - yay!}

Two - I had my 6 week post-partum check-up at the Dr. this week & got the all clear!  So, there will be much more of these evening walks, I've started using My Fitness Pal again & I'm going to start up the workouts again as well!  After 10+ months of literally no working out, it's like I've never worked out before & I have a completely different body!  I've got 13 lbs of baby weight to lose + about another 18 that I had packed on pre-pregnancy so, Momma has to get. to. work!  Any tips on getting back into the groove of working out after baby??

Three - Last Sunday we had Spring/Family pictures taken. This is one of the sneak peeks I was sent & my heart just melted! Bingham really does love Jack already & I can't wait for them to be best friends!! {Check out A & C Photography if you're in the D/FW area!}

Four - Easter is right around the corner!!  I so want to take some fun Easter pics with Jack & I'm hoping he'll cooperate!  Here's one of my inspirational pictures from Pinterest!  I'll keep y'all posted if they turn out!

Five - & speaking of Easter... We'll be taking our first road trip with the babe... It normally takes us 6 hrs to drive but, I know it will take much longer this time. Any tips from fellow moms on baby's first road trip!?  What's worth taking?  What should we leave behind?  Any help is much appreciated!!

I hope y'all have a great weekend!!

Weekend Rundown!

This last weekend Matt & I packed up the babe & went to our friends house for the first crawfish boil of the season!  The weather was supposed to be warm & full of sunshine but, instead it was cool & overcast.  So, Jack had to stay inside until right before we left... you know, to have proof he really was there! It was great getting out of the house, seeing friends & sort of doing normal stuff again!

Jack's first party & crawfish boil!!

We're getting the hang of what all we need to take with us when leave the house & just how much we need of each and every thing... you know, diapers, wipes, bottles, burp rags, extra clothes, etc., etc.  I don't think we forgot anything Saturday so, two thumbs up for us!  Ha!

A Reset Weekend

This weekend was one of those good, productive weekends!  The house had sort of gotten out of control lately so, we used this weekend to tackle everything.  I'm starting to get into a routine during the week but, I really needed this weekend to tackle everything at once so I could start fresh come Monday.  I already feel better about it all & am looking forward to staying better organized - fingers crossed  I can keep it all together!  Do you ever have a reset weekend?  Does a mind good!

While running some errands this weekend I picked up these two adorable outfits for Jack from Buy Buy Baby & Carter's - both Carter's brand.  He'll be sporting these for family pictures this weekend as well as Easter... I can't wait to see him in them!  I think we know who's going to steal the show, no?

We rounded out the weekend with some Sunday evening shenanigans... I could seriously eat him up!!  He's talking & cooing so much lately & it's seriously so fun to "chat" with him!

"I'm too cute for my jammies!"

Jack Montgomery - 1 Month!

Well, we officially survived our first month as parents... & Jack survived as well!  High five!

I'm not sure where the month went but, I can tell you that it was a crazy/fun one!  I have to give a huge shout out to both of my aunts that came up from South Texas & each stayed with us for a full week the first two weeks after Jack was born.  It was truly a blessing having them both here & help us figure it all out.  From helping care for Jack, to cleaning house & making multiple meals, they both were such angels & we are so incredibly thankful that they were both able & willing to come & be with us during those first two weeks.  Now... about the babe -

He can't believe he's 1 month old already, either!

Height - 21 inches long (This is what Jack supposedly was at birth but, going back to his first appt., He was actually about 19 inches long)

Weight - 8 lbs 5 oz

Hair - The boy has a lot of hair & I am happy to report that so far, none of it is falling out yet!

Eyes - Right now they are a dark blue/gray color.  Definitely excited to see what they turn out to be.

Clothes - Newborn clothes are still fitting but, some are a little snug with some 0-3 month onesies fitting.  He's grown out of a couple of newborn sleepers (too short) so, we've started using 0-3 month sleepers.  They are definitely a little too long on him but, fit in every other aspect.

Diapers - Lasted the first 4 weeks in newborn diapers but, we ran out and had to put him in size 1's just to get by.  Size 1's were fitting descent so, we decided just to stay with them and they're fitting great.  In newborn & size 1's we're using Huggies Little Snugglers.

Sleeping - He sleeps pretty good. During the day he sleeps from 2-3 hrs at a time & at night typically 3-4 hour stretches.

Eating - He's eating great!  For the first 3 1/2 weeks I was exclusively breast feeding but, then Jack began having some reflux issues.  After getting some prescription meds from the doctor and switching him to exclusive bottle feeding, we seemed to have worked things out.  (He can't eat/nurse laying down or else He spits up a ton so I have switched to pumping).  So, now we are doing 4/2 breast milk bottles to formula bottles.  He didn't love the formula at first but, seems to have adjusted now & is doing great!  Also, ever since we started the 3 oz bottles he's like clock work eating every 3 hrs.!

Likes - Baths!  The boy loves bath time! I'm so thankful he does because it was one of the things I was most scared to do as a new mom!  He also likes to be up on your shoulder & pull his head up & look around.

Dislikes - Hands down a dirty diaper! Homeboy knows when He is the slightest bit wet... So we fill up the diaper genie quickly & can run through the diapers!

• At about 2 1/2 weeks old he began making these grunting noises & they're absolutely adorable!
• Does not like to be woken up at all!
• Likes to be tightly swaddled when going to sleep, otherwise his arms & hands are everywhere!
• Speaking of sleep, I don't know if I've just never been around a sleeping baby through the night or what but, he is the noisiest sleeper!  He makes all kinds of grunts & cooing type noises when he sleeps!  Mostly just after we've put him down but, typically they last for about 30 minutes.
• Is quite a gassy baby - it's crazy the toots that He can produce!  He can certainly hang with the big boys in that department!
• Makes some of the cutest facial expressions & already has his Daddy's serious look - it's pretty funny!

We love our boy so much & can't wait to see what month 2 brings us!
