Homemade Stromboli - A Recipe

One of our favorite meals in the Yancey house is Stromboli!  My Mom made it often for us growing up and it's easily transitioned into a staple in our home.  It's fairly quick, easy & makes a minimal mess - how much better could it get!?

1 Pillsbury French Loaf roll
1 8 oz can of Tomato Sauce
Parmesan cheese - grated
Mozzarella cheese - grated
Ground meat
Italian Seasoning/s
3 Garlic Cloves

1. Brown the ground meat and add in the Italian seasonings (enough to cover the meat) & 2 Garlic Cloves.  While the ground meat is browning pre-heat the oven to the suggested temperature on the French Loaf roll.  Also, mix the tomato sauce with Italian seasoning (enough to cover the top in your mixing bowl) & 1 garlic clove.

2. Once the ground meat is brown start laying out the french loaf.  Note: Leave the french loaf in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it so that it will be easier to manuver.  If there are holes within the dough kneed the dough together to close the holes.

3. After the French Loaf dough is laid out begin adding your ingredients down the center of the French Loaf.  Be sure to add only half of each ingredient.

4. Once you have all the ingredients placed in the center carefully pull one side of the French Loaf over the ingredients so it is covered.

Then, add the remaining ingredients like you did in step 3 and pull the other side of the dough over the top.  Roll the ends of the dough up so the French Loaf is "closed".

Bake the Stromboli as the French Loaf instructions say or until the loaf is golden brown.

What's Hap-PINNING - Hall Closet Renovation

Part of my July Goals was to get the hall closet built out & organized & well, a big thanks to Matt that happened!  You see, we have 4 bedrooms and all except the master has pretty great closet space.  We have a big linen closet in the master bath, a linen closet in the hall for the secondary rooms, cabinet storage in the guest bath & a coat closet at the front of the house.  {Jack's closet makeover here}  Needless to say we're not really short on closet space!  So, with the hall closet (think a regular long closet with one shelf at the top & a rod across the whole thing type of closet) I knew I wanted to add some shelves so that I could have space for all of my platters, cake stands, drink pitchers etc. to have a home.  They were all already living in this closet but, just in plastic bins stacked on top of each other!  This wasn't exactly user friendly and made getting to different things quite difficult!

Sooo... all that to say that I enlisted the help... ok all of his mad building skills that Matt has, took to Pinterest for some inspiration & BAM we have a butler's pantry... in the hall!  And it is AMAZING!!!  I don't know if I've been more giddy over anything in this house as I was/am this closet make-over!  This organized, party planner is just on cloud 9... heart skipping a beat every time I walk by!!

Ok, ok... I guess I'll share with y'all the closet!  For starters, here's my inspiration picture...
Walk-in pantry

And here's how my closet came out!

Pitchers, platters, cake stands... What do you need??

The bottom half of the closet...

All of my extra plates, cups, napkins & plasticware from previous parties!  Keep it all - never know what you'll need or use!

My platters, holiday platters and my small collection of table linens!

I just love this closet so much & am so thankful to Matt for feeding into my crazy and building it for me!  Also, a butler's pantry or something of the sort is a must in any future houses we have! HA!

And for more closet organizing...

Weekend Rundown

This weekend was a busy & productive weekend!  Saturday I helped co-host a baby shower for one of my very best friends!  Sadly we have no pictures to prove it but, it was a beautiful shower for the first baby girl in our group!  Sweet girl will have 3 "big brothers" to look after her & beat up any other boys that try & mess with her!  Saturday evening Matt, Jack & I ventured down to the West 7th area in Ft Worth to check out the Chalk Art Festival!  After we perused the chalk art we went around the corner to Steel City Pops!  I had been once with Erin so, it was fun to introduce Matt to these super delicious popsicles!  And Jack LOVED my watermelon pop!!  He loved it so much that He would start fussing every time I would take it away - crazy kid!

Sunday was a great, relaxing day filled with church & naps... doesn't get much better!

Don't forget to check out yesterday Supper Club meal plan & link-up your meal plan or recent recipe!

What's Hap-Pinning - Garage Organization Inspiration

Happy hump day y'all!  I am so excited to be joining a new link-up that started last week, What's Hap-Pinning Wednesdays with Jessi & Jenn!

Today I want to share some of my garage organization inspiration!  Organizing our garage is one of the last things left on our "to-do" list for the house renovations - praise the Lord!  Also, I've been searching for somewhere to have Jack's first birthday party (in January!) without spending an arm & a leg for really no more than a big party room.  Needless to say the hunt has been difficult & Matt has been trying to convince me it will be fine having it at our house.  Which if it wasn't in the middle of Winter I would be all about it but, we never know what the weather is going to be like!  So, with alll of that said, we need an overflow place for all of the adults that can also be heated - insert the garage!

For starters, our washer & dryer are in the garage (lesson learned here!) and we desperately need to spruce it up & make it a better functioning space.  I love the idea of cabinets to store items & a hanging rod for clothes while folding laundry!
Laundry room - remove the ugly wire shelf and replace w basic white cabinets for a lovely clean look

I dream for Matt to have a space where allll of his tools & nuts, screws, bolts, errthang has a place where it lives!  This is something close to what I envision!
Garage organizing tips to get your garage in order and set up a DIY workshop.

They make it look so easy to have an organized garage! I can't wait to paint our garage floor.

An actual dog food container - duh!  I'm tired of looking at the big bag & for years a smaller one has been on the kitchen counters.  Tired of seeing dog food bags!  Oh and the rain/mud boot organization & a drop place for all things misc is a genius idea!
Garage Organization

We have a lot of misc type things like outdoor trash bags, car cleaning stuff, painting accessories (+ alll the paint!), etc., etc.  I would love for everything to be organized & have it's home as well instead of just being thrown up on the shelves as it is now.  It's a hot mess for sure!
Love These old crates with Chalk Board Labeling

And lastly, I know that we'll eventually have a collection of outdoor toys for Jack & keeping those together and organized will be crucial for my sanity!  I already pick up toys each night because in no time they are in the kitchen, dining room, living room, our bedroom... They all find their way back "home" though & that helps a ton not waking up to a major mess every morning!  So, outdoor toys will be the same way!
Outdoor toy storage

Have you ever tackled garage organization?

What are some of your "must have" things?

Also, be sure to visit my Supper Club post from Sunday - several great dinner ideas there (& link-up too!)!

Jack Montgomery - 6 Months!

I'm certainly, most definitely having the "terrible mom" feeling.  Except Jack has no idea what I'm doing or that this even exist... & probably won't for a long time, ha!  But, none-the-less I'm extremely late this month (at this monthly update!) & am feeling terrible about it.  I'm here now though so, let's see how our little boy is growing.... Quickly I know that!  Cue the tears!

Height: 26.5"

Weight: 18 lbs. 10.5 oz

Hair: Well... it's still there but, certainly thinning out and there is the cute "old man" line in the back from where He lays.  It's still cute though & I love it!!

Eyes: Blue as blue can be!  I love them too!

Diapers: A size 2 Huggies Lil' Snugglers up until a couple days before He turned 6 months and then overnight we went to a size 3!  We've been using Huggies Snug & Dry & so far so good, we love them!

Clothes: So far we are still in 6 month clothes but, creeping into the 9 month clothes.  Baby sizes are worse than women's clothing though - it alll depends on the brand & "style" of clothing item that depends on what size we buy.  Pajamas are all 9 months, onesies are all 6 months & shirts are all 6 months as well.

Sleeping: Up until right as He turned 6 months Jack would go to sleep about 8pm & wake once during the night, anywhere between 2-4 am.

Eating: Currently taking 6 bottles a day (24 hrs) at 5 oz each.  There's times where He doesn't finish them completely but, He seems satisfied & as the Dr. noted, He's not hurting.  :)  We also started solids at about 5 1/2 months!  We tried green beans first & those were a fail!  So, we went to bananas, then sweet potatoes & then back to green beans.  Jack is a champ at eating now though & after the first couple of bites, getting used to what we're feeding him He typically chows down!

+ Officially got your feet to your mouth & looove chewing on your toes!
+ First lake trip & boat ride were a success!  Needless to say, we think you are a water baby - yaay!
+ We were given this exersaucer by some friends after they were finished with it & you LOVE it!  It's so fun watching you discover each of the different toys on there & making your way 'round & 'round!
+ You started rolling and have not quit!  You only roll from your back to your tummy but, that doesn't seem to bother you because you LOVE being on your stomach!  You'll be rolling from your tummy to your back in no time though!
+ You are quite the talker!  It seems that you always have something to say & you're getting louder.  It's funny & we love to hear you talk!
+ You have suddenly figured out how to fake cough & it has to be one of the funniest things ever!  At first I wasn't sure what you were doing but, once I figured it out that you knew you were fake coughing, I died - hilarious!!!
+ You don't have any teeth coming in yet but, you are starting to show teething signs other than the constant drooling that you've been doing since you were 3 months old.

You are one of the happiest babies!  Your always happy mood is truly infectious & makes being your mom & dad easy!  (There are certainly plenty of challenging moments though).  We love you, we adore you & you are the best thing that has happened to us!

Supper Club - A Recipe Link-up!

Ahh... One of the best days of the week - Sunday!  Now if only Monday didn't have to follow it up!

As mentioned Friday last week turned out to be a bit hectic & I wasn't great at sticking to our meal plan - like, we had one thing off our meal plan!  Ugh, admittance is the first step right!?  Yes!  And I just want to keep it real with y'all!  This week though, it's a "no spending" week for Matt & I meaning, we're filling up the gas tanks, buying all the groceries & we don't eat out for breakfast, lunch or dinner Sunday evening through Friday afternoon!  It's not the easiest thing but, it's something we've been doing from time to time for years now & it really does wonders for our budget.

Since we didn't do so good sticking to our meal plan last week I'll be doing some repeats this week (because we already have all the groceries) with a couple new recipes... So, let's get this link-up started!  I do ask that you mention the link-up within your blog post.  That way the link-up can grow & we will find even more great recipes!

Monday - Spaghetti Squash Lasagna I'll be adding ground turkey to the sauce

Tuesday - Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti Squash noodles

Wednesday - Grilled Tilapia with Green Beans & Carrots

Thursday - Meatloaf with Golden Potatoes & Corn

Some other ideas for your meal plan this week....

Grilled chicken with Corn on the Cob & Green Beans

Radio Silence....

Goodness it has been a bit of a hectic week around here leading to throwing me off my schedule!  Jack & I made an overnight trip to Waco on Tuesday evening for the funeral of my great-aunt.  She was my grandma's sister & the last of the four sisters living.  It was certainly a bitter-sweet day as she lived a long & wonderful life but, certainly reflective of all the memories I have spending with my grandparents & her & her husband during the summers when I was young.

I'll be here Sunday for Supper Club sharing my meal plan for next week!  Feel free to link-up any recent recipes you've shared and/or your own meal plan!

And because what's a blog post these days without a picture of this adorable little babe!?  Here's Jack just after I put him in the bathtub the other day... little toot didn't feel like laying back & pulled himself right up!  He was so proud of himself!

I hope y'all have a great weekend!

See ya Sunday!
